Socially Responsible Weddings
We want you to focus on enjoying your day with family and friends. However, we know that you will want your wedding day to leave a positive legacy.
How we ensure our venues are run in a socially responsible way:
With the scale of most weddings, it's important to consider the impact of such a significant event on the environment and society. There are many ways to plan a socially responsible and sustainable wedding that minimises its impact on the planet and enhances society while still being memorable and special.
One of the biggest environmental impacts of weddings is transportation. Guests and suppliers often drive long distances to be at a wedding, resulting in significant greenhouse gas emissions. To reduce the carbon footprint of your wedding, our venues enable you to have your wedding, reception and stay overnight in the same location to minimise travel between venues.
Our menus prioritise locally produced ingredients from sustainable sources to reduce transport costs. We have a list of local suppliers who share our socially responsible values and encourage you to consider using them for your wedding.
Each wedding venues owned and operated by Xenia has a clear and transparent environmental policy, so you and your guests can feel good about your wedding day and the impact it is having on the environment and the local community.
From bee hives and bug houses to wild flower meadows and natural hedgerows, these simple environmentally-friendly touches look good and feel good.
How we reduce waste and create a positive social impact:
Another major impact of weddings is waste. With so many guests, there is a lot of food, disposable plastic, decor, and other items that can end up in landfill. To reduce waste, we avoid single use products, we work closely with florists who use sustainable practices and make a range of decorations and props available for you to use, free of charge.
Weddings are also an opportunity to support the local economy, so we work closely with local artisans and small businesses and encourage couples to use them at their weddings, to support local communities and ensure our venues have a positive economic impact.
We use state of the art soundproofing where needed so that your guests can enjoy celebrating without a negative impact on the rural settings our venues enjoy.
Leaving a lasting legacy:
Finally, we encourage you to consider using your wedding as an opportunity to leave a positive lasting legacy so we give our couples the opportunity to plant either a tree or a vine to commemorate their special day with us.
In conclusion, weddings are a time to celebrate love and commitment, but they can also have a significant impact on the environment and society. By choosing socially responsible and sustainable options, we help our couples reduce their wedding's carbon footprint, minimise waste, support local businesses and communities, and give back to those in need. With these small steps, together we will create a beautiful and memorable wedding that is also a force for good.
